The decorative elements on the wood gates, roofs, pillars or porches had above all a strong apotropaic role in which evil spirits were forbidden to enter and manifest themselves in the life of the family. The daily life of the simple man was governed by functionality and faith, in the sense that he, the Romanian peasant, considered himself to live in a liturgical space, constituted not only by the church, but by the entire village. For this reason, there is an entire theology, of Christian-folkloric origin, in the way houses are built, folk costumes are made, and rituals are established.
