Instructions for authors

Your article will be written and sent to the editorial staff according to the technical and content norms specified below:

A. TYPESETTING RULES

  • The article is written in Microsoft Word and saved under the name Name Surname – The title of the article – Language.docx
  • Page format: ISO B5 (17,6 x 25,01 cm)
  • Edges: 2 cm (top, bottom, left, right)
  • Source: Cambria
  • Spacing: No spacing (Line spacing: 1.0)
  • Title: UPPERCASE (=MAJUSCULE), 13, BOLD, center
  • Author: First Name NAME: 12, Bold, center
  • Affiliation (institution): 12, Normal, center
  • E-mail: 11, Normal, center
    The use of institutional e-mail addresses is preferred as much as possible, rather than personal ones.
  • Body of the text: 11, Normal, justify.
  • Section titles (subheadings): UPPERCASE (=MAJUSCULE), 11, BOLD, left
  • Paragraphs within a section are separated by a new, unaligned line.
  • Notes (if any) are inserted into the text as a simple paragraph, written in size 9, Normal, justify.
  • The sections are separated by a free row.
  • The titles of works (scientific articles, papers, volumes, etc.) will be indicated in the text in italics.
  • Quotation marks will be used in the text only when quoting a certain passage or fragment reproduced exactly. (For the text in Romanian, the signs will be used: ” ” ).
  • The illustrations in the text (photographs, musical examples, tables) will be inserted in the text separated by a free line, being necessarily numbered and accompanied by explanations, at size 10, Normal, center. The illustrations will also be centered.
  • The photos will be indicated by: Figure 1, Figure 2, etc. or Image 1, Image 2, etc., followed by explanations.
  • The musical examples will be indicated by: Example 1, Example 2, etc. followed by explanations.
  • The tables will be indicated by: Table 1, Table 2, etc. followed by explanations.
  • As for musical examples, it is recommended to avoid using large scores. (As a rule, the musical example refers strictly to a reality that the text describes and has only a few measures.)
  • Text illustrations will also be sent as separate files, in *.jpg, *.png, *.bmp format, with a resolution of at least 300 dpi.
  • Clear photos will be chosen, and the musical examples will be legible and, preferably, properly typewritten. The manuscript scores will only be accepted if their purpose in the text is illustrative.
  • The text of the bibliographic references at the end will be written in size 9, Normal, left. The references will be arranged in alphabetical order by the authors’ names.
  • Webographic references (web sources) are indicated in the continuation of the list of bibliographic references, being separated from them by a free row.
  • Avoid using generic or open webographic sources, whose content varies frequently (e.g. Wikipedia).

    VERY IMPORTANT!

    • The article will be written in two languages. One will be the author’s language of origin, and the other will be an international language (in this order of preference: English, German, French, Spanish). Thus, two files will be drafted and sent, one for each language.
    • The length of the articles in the two languages must be identical. The size of the paragraphs in the two languages should also be as close as possible.)
    • In the case of the text in Romanian, the diactritics will be used compulsorily.
    • The size of each item will be between 5 and 8 pages, as specified.
    • The two files, as well as the files with illustrations will be sent to: redactia@cs-embe.ro

    B. SCIENTIFIC RULES

    • The abstract must have a minimum of 5 lines and a maximum of 10 lines.
    • Keywords are separated by “;” placed after the last keyword. A number of 5-6 keywords will be indicated.
    • During the work, a unitary approach will be used in terms of proper names (persons, states/cities,), titles of works, but also musical notation:
      – For the musical notation in the Romanian text, it is recommended to use traditional abbreviations (C, D, E, flat, becar, sharp, etc.)
      – For the musical notation in the text in the international language, the German/Northern European system (F, G, H, hard, soft, es, is) OR the British-American system (F, G, B, major, minor, flat, sharp) will be used.
    • The citation system used by our publication is the APA System. For explanations and examples, see: https://www.mendeley.com/guides/apa-citation-guide/
    • Within the text, when a work is cited, the dates of the cited work (Name, Year of publication: Page) are put in parentheses, such as: (Giuleanu, 2003: 284). In the case of works with several authors, the citation is made as follows: (Popescu & Ionescu, 2015: 54). In this citation system, the indication of the page number from which it is quoted can be omitted. If the author is unknown, the first words of the reference will be cited.
    • The bibliographic sources will be indicated at the end, according to the following general rules:

    The Works with 1 author:

    Name, p. (year of publication). The title of the paper (ed. edition number). City, Country: Publishing House[This example refers to the citation of a volume (of a book)]
    [Exemplul acesa se referă la citarea unui volum (al unei cărți)]

    The Works with 2 authors:

    Name, P. & Name, P. (year of publication) ……

    The Papers with 3 or more authors – only the first author is specified:

    Name, P., et. al.(Year of publication) ……

    The Chapter from a book:

    Name, p. (year of publication). Chapter title. P. Name (Ed.). The title of the book. (ed. edition number, pp. between which is the chapter). City, Country: Publishing House

    The article from a magazine or online source:

    Name, p. (year of publication). Chapter title. Title of the journal, Number of the journal (edition, volume – optional), pages between which the article is found

    The article from an online magazine:

    Name, p. (year of publication). Chapter title. The title of the journal, the number of the journal, the pages between which the article is found. DOI (preferred) or Retrieved from URL (web address)

    Website:

    Name, P. (Year, month, day of access). Title of the reference (material). Retrieved from URL (web address)
